boing: let’s put some bounce into things!

boing is all me* all the time ~ except when it’s not!
That’s because boing also folds-in specialists who offer skills I don’t (marketing/pr and web design), as well as having links to photographers, printers and cartographers.

When I went freelance in 2004, I designed boing to work for you, to boost your message, not my ego.
Successful solutions = beautiful solutions, so if your design is most effective in a deep red, you won’t find me pushing to use pale violet just because it’s fashionable this week!

Good design improves the environment around us and benefits a client’s profit or brand ~ so I am committed to use my powers only for good. Agencies seeking work on behalf of corporate monsters have always been refused and non-profits/charities always get a reduced quote.

If you already know what you need, I can fix that… if you only know what you want, I’d love to find a way to translate it into what you need.

*’Me’ being Simon Russell. I worked as a newspaper artist and cartoonist; a magazine and book designer; a creative director and commissioning manager at the British Tourist Authority. I trained as an illustrator and split my time between designing for clients, working for charities and making my own art in print and prints.

What can boing do for you?

After all this time in the business, it would probably be easier to list what boing DOESN’T do!
I’m always adding new projects, but my main activities fall under the following areas:

advertising design
books / magazine design
branding / logos / corporate ID
business-to-business / annual reports
cartoons / illustration / infographics
exhibitions
marketing / brochures / leaflets
office styling / signage
photography / art direction
presentations / training / instruction manuals
project management

Who uses boing?

Many clients only need one job from a design agency, but I’ve been lucky to have a number of the people I work with return year after year… including:
